2020 Summit Art Festival

Summit Art’s Board of Directors regretfully announces that the Summit Art Festival, held annually during the second weekend of October on the streets of downtown Lee’s Summit, Missouri, has been cancelled for 2021, due to continued circumstances related to the ongoing pandemic.

“This was an incredibly painful decision, made for the second year in a row, for our organization. Our members and volunteers have worked tirelessly since 2007 to grow this high-quality, fine art event to a nationally-recognized level, attracting artists from all across the country, and over 20,000 patrons throughout the three-day weekend,” states Jody Fristoe, Summit Art Director.

Summit Art began hosting its annual signature event as the Longview Art & World Music Festival in 2007 in the New Longview area of Lee’s Summit. In 2013, the weekend event moved to downtown Lee’s Summit and was renamed the Summit Art Festival, and grew to cover three city blocks, with 100 artist booths, a Student Art Pavilion, food trucks, live musical performances and the StuckOnArt live competition for students.

Teddy Jackson, Summit Art Board Director, Past Chair, Juried Artist Member and Signature Member of the Missouri Valley Impressionist Society, says, “Postponing this event affords us time to plan an even more exciting and extraordinary art fair for next year!” Summit Art will continue to explore creative options that support visual art and artists, and remains committed to providing exceptional art experiences for our community.

“Where Art is Discovered!”

Summit Art, a 501c3 nonprofit, hosts its annual art fair in the bustling downtown entertainment district of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  The Summit Art Festival celebrates the power of expression at this three-day, outdoor, high-quality, juried fine art event featuring over 100 artists from all over the country.  Visitors enjoy a unique blend of ART, MUSIC and FOOD!

Over 300 works of art created by area students are showcased in the Student Art Pavilion and the ‘StuckOnArt’ live competition happens at the main intersection on Saturday.  Local musicians and songwriters provide entertaining, eclectic music throughout the entire weekend. Local food trucks serve up a delicious mix of casual street fare, beverages and cocktails.

This weekend event is hosted and managed by Summit Art, a 501c3 nonprofit visual arts organization.  As our annual signature event, this fine art festival supports our mission to encourage and promote artists and visual arts in Lee’s Summit and beyond.  We do this by providing opportunities for networking, education, exhibitions and recognition for members and the art community, and a youth scholarship fund to area high school students working toward obtaining a career in the fine arts.

The Summit Art Festival is made possible by the generous donations, support and contributions by our community!
